Weekly Session Update 6 — Bills to Committee
February 19, 2013

It is hard to believe we are halfway through our 6th week of the Legislative Session! It has truly been an honor to represent House District 68 and advocate for common sense and rural Texas in the legislature.

Last week I was selected to be a Vice-Chairman of the House Rural Caucus. This, along with my seat on the Agriculture and Livestock Committee, will ensure that HD-68 has a large presence in matters of this nature.

Earlier this week, my first two bills were referred to committee. HB 697 was referred to the Ways & Means Committee, which handles issues dealing with the tax-code. HB 698 was referred the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee. The committee process is the first step in making these two great pieces of legislation law.

Last week I had the privilege of recognizing Montague County Leadership with a resolution on the House Floor. These community leaders traveled down to Austin to meet with myself and other state officials to learn more about state government and how they can be involved. You can read the resolution here.

If you know of a person or organization that you feel deserves recognition, please let us know! We have many talented and generous groups and individuals in HD-68, and we would love to recognize them for their efforts.
