Weekly Session Update 7 — Explore Filed Legislation!
March 05, 2013

Well it is already March and things have really picked up in the Texas Legislature. Committees are going full speed ahead, and we have begun to hear legislation in both of my committees. All of my filed bills have been referred to committees as well, and soon I will be going before them with testimony and witnesses.

This Friday is the bill filing deadline. Between now and then, I will be filing several pieces of legislation to benefit the citizens of HD 68 and the State of Texas. Stay tuned for next week’s update for more information on those.

If you would like to look into what myself and others have filed this Session, please click here for House and here for Senate.

There are several ways to search for legislation if you are interested in researching what has been filed this Session.

The first is to do a text search (click here). Through this page you can search for particular topics or words and see the bills that have been filed regarding that subject matter.

The next way is to search by author (click here). Through this page, you can see what myself and others have filed (primary author) or signed onto (joint-author or co-author) this session and in sessions past. Simply select an author and whether you want to see primary, joint, or co bills.

On that page, you can also search by subject or committee. This is very useful if you would like to see everything that has been filed within a particular topic. To do this click ‘select subject criteria’ and select up to 20 categories to search within at a time.

If you have any questions on this process or anything else related to state government, please feel free to give my office a call. We can be reached at anytime, either by phone (512) 463- 0526 or by email [email protected]. Keep sending us your questions and suggestions, they truly help me better represent you.

Hope y’all had an excellent Texas Independence Day last Saturday! 177 years since we declared independence from Mexico, God bless Texas!
