Weekly Session Update — Pro-Life Bill Passes TX House
July 10, 2013

I have some great news from Austin, today we passed House Bill 2 out of the House and onto the Senate! This legislation will save thousands of unborn lives, while at the same time improving health and safety conditions for Texas women at abortion clinics. Read more on that here.

Last month, we passed similar legislation during the first Special Session, but it died in the Senate due to a filibuster and mob like behavior in the gallery on the final day of Session. This time around, we have more that two weeks for the Senate to get this bill out of their chamber and onto the Governors desk!

Monday night, I was honored to join former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Attorney General Greg Abbott and dozens of other Pro-Life elected officials at a ‘Stand for Life’ rally on the Capitol Steps. If you would like to see a quick one minute recap of the event, click here or the link below.

I am proud to have played a part in passing this crucial legislation out of the Texas House. Texas will not allow for the disorderly conduct of the few thwart the will of a majority of Texans to protect human life. Please take a moment to read my OpEd, ‘Life Comes First’ and SHARE with your friends on Facebook.

Next the House will consider matters relating to juvenile justice and funding transportation projects across the state. The Session should be over by the end of July.

This Tuesday, July 16th, Greg Abbott will be hosting an event in Wichita Falls at his childhood home, located at 4419 Randel Drive, Wichita Falls, Tx 76308.  This is a great opportunity to meet our state’s attorney general and hear about his future plans. If you are interested, RSVP here.

After the Special Session has wrapped up, I intend to hold town hall forums and office hours across the district to meet with constituents about their ideas and concerns. Until then, please continue to contact us by email and phone. Also, if you haven’t already, be sure to ‘LIKE’ us on Facebook and ‘FOLLOW’ us on Twitter to receive realtime updates on everything happening in House District 68.

Also, campaign season is quickly approaching. If you like what I have done down in Austin, could you please help me out with a $5, $10, $20 or even $100 donation towards my re-election? Every donation is truly appreciated.
